Cars - Fuel Delivery - Diesel Starting issues
Okay, this one once had me stranded.
It could be a pointer or preventive maintenance!
Typical for European cars fuel is delivered from plastic fuel lines, in my case this is no exception.
But as this might be an easy cost-saving option, it can lead to air entering the system.
Why?
Older plastics start cracking and splitting.
In diesels, this can mean that the engine simply doesn't start.
It's more common at start-up but can lead to the car completely stalling.
When this example fails, it can be hard to spot.
In one case I've dealt with there wasn't even any fuel around the area, the 'split' that had formed was just big enough to cause the issue.
What's the resolution?
In this case, it would be to replace the fuel primer.
