Range Rover L322 - Parking Distance Control (PDC) Troubleshooting - Part 1

So we're at the moment I've been so busy lately.... life and all that.

Time for a good case study of a L322 Range Rover that I wanted to publish. There is little information online about troubleshooting these so might help you isolate the issue.

The PDC setup on a L322 is simple. There is a control module that sits in rear right hand side behind the fuse box in the boot, it's held in with 2x 10MM bolts. They are the plastic sort you can see if you raise the boot floor and that is holding the plastic trim down.

The module has 3 connectors. White, Black and Blue.

For this experiment you want to keep note to the white and blue connectors.

White connector is the rear wiring loom that runs from the right to the left of the bumper connected with a bulk plug.

Blue connector is for the front. This one is more complex as it runs the entire length of the car and goes through the firewall to the 4 at the front.

1. Start by removing the key from the ignition.
2. Unplug the white connector.
3. Turn the ignition back on
4. Scan the car and clear all codes.
5. Turn on the PDC using the button on the dash.
6. Read the faults that return. You'd be expecting to see all the rear sensors are at fault. If the 0x9 is still present then the fault is not the rear sensors or loom it's the front sensors or loom.
7. Repeat the steps. Plug the white connector back in and unplug the blue connector and the fault should disappear.

From doing this you've ruled out 8 down to 4. Great.

This is the first part in this section and I hope it gives some idea. There is more to this and I'm going to publish another section to this but is going to take me redrawing the diagrams to stop someone getting the legal hammer out!
